UAE envoy assures PM of continued cooperation over sea port, infrastructure

Ali Abdulla Khaseif AlHmoudi, the UAE’s new ambassador in Bangladesh, assured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today at her official house Ganabhaban of continuous assistance in the development of Bangladesh’s infrastructure and sea port.

“UAE will continue cooperation in the development of Bangladesh’s infrastructure and sea port for mutual benefit,” the UAE ambassador told the premier during their courtesy meeting, according to PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.

According to Chattogram port authority authorities, a G to G agreement on Chattogram port development collaboration has already been inked between Bangladesh and the UAE.

They also stated that the UAE wishes to run a jetty of the bay terminal as well as the New Mooring container terminal at Chattogram port.

Karim told reporters after the meeting that the UAE envoy assured him that his country will continue its friendship and collaboration with Bangladesh.

The UAE envoy also informed the prime minister of his meeting with the state minister of civil aviation and tourism on aviation cooperation.

He stated that the cornerstone of the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and the UAE was built by the two nations’ fathers, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, during Bangabandhu’s visit in 1974.

Later, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan also visited Dhaka in 1984 and played very pivotal role in establishing solid foundation of the bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries, he added.

During the meeting, the prime minister highly appreciated the UAE leadership as they are going to host the COP-28 summit in Dubai in November next.

While talking about Bangladeshi expatriates working in the UAE, Sheikh Hasina put emphasis on learning Arabic language for those willing to go to the UAE and other Arab Countries for seeking job.

The prime minister welcomed the UAE’s new envoy in Dhaka and assured him of full cooperation during his tenure in Bangladesh.
She also sent her warmest wishes to the UAE’s leadership via the ambassador.

The Prime Minister’s Envoy at Large Mohammad Ziauddin was present, as was Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah.
