H&M contributes books, mannequins to BGMEA Innovation Centre, BUFT

To aid in the education and skill development of Bangladesh’s upcoming RMG professionals, the H&M Group, a well-known multinational retail clothing company, has donated books and dressmaker mannequins to the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) and the Centre of Innovation, Efficiency and Occupational Safety and Health (CIEOSH).

Both BUFT students and CIEOSH trainees will find the books and mannequins to be useful resources as they collect information and learn the skills and methods required to make high-quality clothing.

At the BGMEA Complex in Uttara in the capital today, Ziaur Rahman, Country Manager of H&M Group, gave the books and models to Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA.

According to a press release, Miran Ali, Vice President of BGMEA, also witnessed the ceremony.

“Education is key to further increasing diversification and enabling a sustainable transition for the RMG sector. From H&M Group we believe in the strength of cooperation and collaboration with our industry partners, and we are glad that we could make this contribution to BUFT and its students,” said Ziaur Rahman, Country Manager, H&M Group.

“Bangladesh’s RMG industry is pursuing a vision of sustainable growth where our key focus is on the transition from volume to value and quantity to quality. In alignment with our vision, the key priorities for the industry are innovation, technological upgradation, environmental sustainability, productivity and efficiency enhancement and skill development,” said Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA.

“The initiative of H&M Group to contribute books and dressmaker mannequins to CIEOSH and BUFT is highly appreciated. It demonstrates their commitment to supporting the education and skill development of the next generation RMG professionals. We would like to thank H&M for their support to the industry’s pursuit of sustainable development.” he added.

The Center of Innovation, Efficiency and Occupation Safety and Health (CIEOSH), founded by the Bangladesh Global Manufacturing Exporters Association (BGMEA) at its headquarters in Uttara, Dhaka, aims to provide the RMG sector in Bangladesh with the knowledge, skills, and technological know-how it needs to meet upcoming challenges and improve its competitiveness.
