Crystal Palace name Hodgson as manager until end of season

In an effort to prevent the Premier League team from being relegated, Crystal Palace has rehired former England manager Roy Hodgson as their manager through the conclusion of the current campaign.

The “sole objective,” according to the 75-year-old who replaces the fired Patrick Vieira, is to guarantee survival in the English top flight.

After a 12-match losing streak, Hodgson, who oversaw Selhurst Park from 2017 to 2021, assumes control of a Palace team that is currently 12th in the Premier League and three points above the relegation zone.

Hodgson stated in a club statement, “It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the crucial job of turning the team’s fortunes around.

“At this stage, winning games and accumulating the necessary points to secure our Premier League status are our only goals.

Former Liverpool and Inter Milan manager Roy Hodgson was welcomed back to the London club by Palace chairman Steve Parish, who emphasized the importance of Hodgson’s expertise in the fight against relegation.

Vieira, a former playmaker for France and Arsenal, was fired on Friday.
