Death toll rises to 17 in explosion at Siddique Bazar

The number of people killed and wounded as a result of the explosion at a building in the capital’s Siddique Bazar has risen to 17. More fatalities are anticipated as a result of the event.

At around 4:45 pm on Tuesday, a catastrophic explosion occurred at the Siddique Bazar close to the BRTC bus counter. Two nearby structures have been harmed. One structure has seven stories, while the other only has five. The seven-story building’s basement, first, and second levels were hurt.

The five-story building’s first level was damaged, and BRAC Bank offices are located on floors two through five. Rescue efforts are being carried out by 11 different Fire Service units.

The event happened near the Gulistan BRTC bus counter, according to the fire department’s report in the afternoon.

More than one hundred persons are being transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being rescued from the injured inside the explosion-damaged building.

The emergency room at Dhaka Medical College Hospital is housing the remains of 17 individuals.

Women make up at least two of the dead. However, information about the deceased was not readily available.

Explosions at an oxygen plant in Sitakunda, Chattogram, earlier on Saturday resulted in seven fatalities and ten injuries.

Three persons were killed the following day in an explosion at a structure in the Science Laboratory section of the capital.
