Air Astra to start flights on Dhaka-Sylhet route from 23 February

The newest private airline in the nation, Air Astra, has chosen to start operating flights on the popular Dhaka-Sylhet-Dhaka route on February 23.

According to a press statement from the airliner, there will initially be two daily flights on this new route, according to BSS.

The airline has previously launched its first commercial flight on the Dhaka-Bazar Cox’s route on November 24, 2022.

“We are able to add a new domestic destination just after three months of inaugural flight as Air Astra got its third narrow body ATR 72-600 aircraft… our flights would give more options to choose to the air travelers,” Air Astra chief executive officer (CEO) Imran Asif said.

The carrier also runs daily flights on the routes from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka to Chittagong.

As the first private carrier in Bangladesh, Air Astra set out to complete the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Program within the first year of operation.

IOSA is a concept for an evaluation system offered by the International Air Transport Association that is acknowledged and accepted globally (IATA).
