North Korea ballistic missile appears to have landed in Japan’s EEZ

According to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, a suspected ballistic missile launched from North Korea on Saturday is thought to have landed inside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

“It appears the ballistic missile fired by North Korea landed within Japan’s EEZ, west of Hokkaido,” Kishida told reporters.

The missile was anticipated to land 200 kilometers (125 miles) west of Oshima island in northern Japan’s Hokkaido at around 6:27 p.m., according to Toshiro Ino, Japan’s deputy defense minister (0927 GMT).

According to Kishida, he “instructed (officials) to educate the public and carefully assess the safety situation.”

In November of last year, North Korea launched an unprecedented number of missiles, one of which is also thought to have landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
