France drops Covid testing for travellers from China

According to the French embassy in Beijing, France has lifted the limits on Covid testing that it had placed on visitors from China.

Visitors who are 11 years of age or older and are flying from China to France must have a negative test result from 48 hours before to the journey in order to board the aircraft as of January.

The limitations were put in place as a surge of coronavirus infections swept through China after its restrictive zero-Covid policy was lifted in December.

“Travellers from China to France are no longer required to present the result of a negative RT-PCR test within 48 hours or fill a health declaration form,” the French embassy in Beijing said in a statement on Thursday.

“Random screenings on arrival are also abolished,” it added.

China ended its international isolation in January by reopening its borders and removing the requirement for travelers to undergo quarantine.

Travel outbound increased as a result of the relaxation. Foreign reservations made through China’s biggest travel agency increased by 640 percent throughout the course of the Lunar New Year holiday in January compared to the previous year.

According to the tourism ministry, China is now allowing group travel to 20 nations.

In recent weeks, a number of nations have similarly loosened restrictions on travelers from China, including Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
