Controversy-hit Golden Globes returns after year off air

With his movie “The Fabelmans,” Steven Spielberg took home the top prize. However, many actors, including Zendaya and Tom Cruise, persisted in skipping the gala.

The 80th Golden Globe Awards, which were broadcast on Tuesday, aimed to regain Hollywood’s respect after being ostracized for a perceived lack of diversity and ethics.

Due to the boycott by celebrities and studios in 2022, longtime broadcasting partner NBC decided not to broadcast the ceremony.

They insisted that a “serious reform” be implemented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which selects the winners.

This year’s gala was hosted in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, with the southern California region experiencing severe downpours, mudslides, and flooding as a backdrop.
