Starting the 2023 edition of Global Friendship Art Festival in India

The Global Friendship Art Festival India 2023 has begun at Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, to strengthen the ties between Bangladesh and India.

The Bangladesh Artist Group produced the five-day art event, which includes 104 paintings and 12 sculptures created by 65 artists from 12 different nations.

On Monday, Andalib Elias, the deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh, lit up Kalabhaban’s “Nandan Chitrashala Mangal Pradip” to officially launch the art festival in Kolkata.

At the opening ceremony, which was presided over by the president of the Bangladesh Artist Group, Saiful Islam, notable artists Dr. Janak Jhankar Narzary and K M A Quayyum as well as Nasima Masud Ruby and the former principal of Visva Bharati University Kalabhavan were special guests.

“Through art, culture, and creativity, the exhibition festival will serve as a platform to strengthen the friendship between Bangladesh and India. In addition to bringing together ideas, thoughts, and people from all around the world,” said Andalib Elias.

He continued by saying that the incident typified Bangabandhu’s and the Bangladeshi people’s tenacious, non-communal, and peaceful nature. In addition, the festival will aid in promoting the idea that Bangladesh has made enormous strides in many areas, including art and culture, in recent years thanks to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh’s great leadership.

Mohammad Akhtar Hossain is the advisor to the Bangladesh Artist Group, Syed Ashrafuzzaman. At the inaugural ceremony was Sandeep Bhattacharya, the Artists Group representative for India.

Among the attendees were Bangladeshi artists Mohammad Rafiq, Shamima Akhtar, Jasmine Akter, and Mojahidul Islam.

In the ceremony, the Bangladesh high commissioner presented memorials to the Bangladeshi and Indian artists. The exhibition is accessible to everyone from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day through January 13.
