The second season of the hugely popular Netflix sitcom “Wednesday,” which stars American actor Jenna Ortega, has been ordered.
The eight-episode first season of the supernatural comedy-horror series starring the eponymous “Addams Family” figure premiered on November 23, according to American media outlet Variety.
Shortly after, Netflix declared that the show had surpassed 341 million hours of viewing, a new record for an English-language series on the platform.
In the program, Wednesday Addams attends Nevermore Academy and tries to control her growing psychic ability while also putting an end to a killing spree and solving the mystery that ensnared her parents 25 years before.
According to Variety, the Season 1 cast also included Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J. Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, and Naomi J. Ogawa.
Alongside Isaac Ordonez and Luis Guzman as Gomez and Pugsley, Catherine Zeta-Jones also made an appearance as Morticia Addams.
The series was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also acted as co-showrunners and executive producers, according to Variety. The first four episodes were directed by Tim Burton, who also serves as the show’s executive producer.
