Mimi Parker, lead singer of the indie rock band Low, died at the age of 55

Low Mimi Parker’s drummer and vocalist passed away at the age of 55.

She died of ovarian cancer on Saturday. The news of her passing was announced by her band on its Twitter account.

“Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but she passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours,” read the post. “Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing.”

In 1993, Parker and her husband Alan Sparhawk founded Low. The band released “I Could Live in Hope” as their debut album in 1994, and they stayed independent before signing with Sub Pop in 2004.

Their final album, “Hey What,” was also their first as a pair.

As Parker battled her sickness, the trio had to cancel the remaining dates of their 2023 tour.
