BGMEA writes to PM of Bangladesh for readjustment of diesel price

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has called for the local market’s diesel price to be revised in light of the drop in fuel prices on the global market.

On Sunday, a letter in this regard was delivered to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and signed by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan (2 October).

The premier was encouraged in the letter to take the required actions to lower the price of diesel oil for the industry because many plant owners must use expensive diesel despite a decline in the global market.

In the letter, the head of the BGMEA organization claimed that although domestic diesel prices were Tk80 per litre last year, they are now Tk109 this year.

According to the letter, several firms have been using diesel fuel to reduce their losses as a result of load shedding.

Due to the high cost of diesel, manufacturing owners are finding it very challenging to maintain output, according to the letter.
