10 TVET educators from Guyana now equipped with Diploma in Heavy-Duty Equipment Maintenance

Ten (10) educators now have a Diploma in Heavy-Duty Equipment Maintenance as the Ministry of Education works to improve the delivery of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

After completing 1640 hours in this area of expertise, the TVET practitioners now receive a diploma, a journeyman certificate, and a certificate indicating satisfaction in the linked profession.

In order to ensure that TVET instructors gain knowledge from training in the heavy-duty equipment maintenance program, the Ministry of Education, Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Trinidad and Tobago National Energy Skills Center (NESC), and RED Deer, a Canadian partner in skills training, have a long-standing partnership.

The Organization for the American States provided complete funding for the training (OAS). This certification is respected nationally, regionally, and worldwide.

This program, conducted by trainers from Trinidad & Tobago at the Linden Technical Institute (LTI), benefited TVET educators from various institutions around the nation ( NESC).

Deputy Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ritesh Tularam, described the graduation ceremony held at the Linden Technical Institute earlier today as a “momentous occasion” since it is yet another illustration of the improvement of TVET delivery in Guyana’s educational sector.

He also urged the graduates to use their newly acquired knowledge and abilities to contribute in a meaningful way to their schools.

“You are now empowered and enriched with what it takes to make an impactful change to the status quo of your institution, you are now an ambassador and change agent of the mobility and scaffolding of this program to the far-reaching end of trainees at your institution.”

Also present at the ceremony were Director CTEVT, Mr. Patrick Chinedu Onwuzirike, NESC Vice President Student Services, Mr. Rafael Mohamed, and other special invited guests.
