India crosses milestone of administering ‘200 crore’ Covid vaccine doses

Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, hailed the populace as the nation reached the milestone of administering “200 crore” doses of the Covid-19 vaccination today (Sunday).

Up to 1 p.m. today, the Indian Ministry of Health reported that 2,63,26,111 sessions totaling 2,00,00,15,631 dosages had been administered throughout the nation.

According to ministry data, 90 percent of India’s adult population has received all recommended doses of the vaccine, and 98 percent of them have.

With the “extraordinary” achievement Prime Minister Modi congratulated his countrymen saying that he is “proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed”.

“India creates history again! Congrats to all Indians on crossing the special figure of 200 crore vaccine doses. Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed. This has strengthened the global fight against COVID-19,” he Tweeted today.

In addition, India recorded 20,528 new Covid-19 cases throughout the course of the last day (up to 8 am today), bringing the overall number of coronavirus cases to 4,37,50,599, while the number of active cases rose to 1,43,449, according to data from the health ministry.

The number of fatalities increased by 49, bringing the total to 5,25,709; the percentage of cases that are still open is 0.33; and the recovery rate is currently 98.47.
