Bangladesh spends Tk 400b on Covid vaccines: Health minister

The government has spent almost Tk 400 billion on corona vaccinations and inoculation efforts, according to health minister Zahid Maleque.

On Thursday, the minister made the comment during a National Kidney Institute event commemorating ‘World Kidney Day-2022.’

“We were able to vaccinate 12 million individuals in a single day, which is an all-time high. We’ve given out 220 million vaccine doses so far, with 120 million first doses, 85 million second doses, and 5 million booster doses. Vaccine activities include over 100,000 people. According to the minister, renal illness is a disease that affects both men and women “If 20 people die from Covid, we become concerned. Every day, however, 70 to 80 individuals die of kidney illness, and 200 to 300 people die of cancer. We must be more cautious when it comes to these diseases.”

He went on to say that almost 20 million people had kidney illness.

“In each area, we have taken on a project to build a dialysis center with ten beds and an ICU with ten beds,” Zahid Maleque stated.
