Speakers seek involvement of more countries to resolve Rohingya crisis

More countries should get involved in aiding Rohingya repatriation, according to speakers at today’s webinar, because it is the international community’s responsibility to act proactively to resolve this humanitarian issue.

The webinar “The Rohingya Exodus in Bangladesh: Regional and Global Security Implications” was co-hosted by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and the Bangabandhu Centre for Bangladesh Studies Canada.

The welcoming address was given by BIISS Director General Major General Md. Emdad-Ul-Bari, while the closing remarks were given by Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada Dr. Khalilur Rahman.

Professor Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, Director of the University of Dhaka’s Centre for Genocide Studies, gave the keynote address.

Bari reiterated that Myanmar is to blame for the Rohingya situation, and that a solution must be found there.
