ADB launches program to strengthen community resilience in Asia, Pacific

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United Kingdom government and the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) launched the Community Resilience Partnership Program today at COP26 (CRPP).

By scaling up climate adaptation initiatives in Asia and the Pacific, the program aims to increase climate resilience for local people, particularly women and girls.

The CRPP will assist local climate adaptation initiatives that are linked with the Nationally Determined Contributions, Adaptation Plans, and Disaster Risk Reduction Plans of ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs), with a focus on poor and vulnerable populations.

According to an ADB press statement, the UK government will contribute US$61 million and the NDF will contribute $6.9 million.

The CRPP will provide long-term sustainable support to scale up climate adaptation measures that address climate, poverty, and gender challenges. The program is designed for implementation over a 10-year period from 2021 to 2031.

The CRPP will be operationalized through a Financing Partnership Facility which will include a multidonor trust fund to support research, capacity building of national institutions, innovative pilots, and project preparation through technical assistance and grants.
