Rome under spotlight as G20 Summit to convene

On Saturday and Sunday in Rome, Italy, the 16th Group of 20 (G20) Leaders’ Summit will take place both online and offline.

After the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first summit to adopt an offline schedule. The Chinese government will send a delegation to the Rome meeting.

The summit’s agenda, according to Italy, will cover the most pressing global health and economic issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the need for the world’s most developed economies to step up their efforts to ensure a fair and equitable global distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, particularly to low-income countries.

Climate change, digital transformation, and sustainable innovation, as well as topics like the situation in Afghanistan, are likely to be discussed by world leaders.

The G20 is the primary platform for international collaboration on financial and economic concerns, having been established in 1999.
