Dhaka urges UNCHR to continue efforts for safe, dignified life of Rohingyas in Myanmar

Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), has urged the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to continue its efforts to guarantee the Rohingyas have a “secure, voluntary, and dignified life” free of discrimination and persecution in Myanmar.

She expressed her gratitude to the Human Rights Council for keeping the Rohingya issue high on its agenda and adopting a consensus resolution in its 47th session, according to a news release issued here today.

The role and activities of the Special Rapporteur and the Independent Investigative Mechanism on Myanmar were also recognized by the Bangladesh envoy.

Bangladesh, according to Fatima, is profoundly devoted to the ideals of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as evidenced by its participation in UN human rights organizations.
