For the first time, Bangladesh surpasses 11,000 daily COVID-19 cases

Bangladesh has had the most significant daily increase in Covid-19 cases since the epidemic began, with 11,525 new cases, bringing the total to 9,66,406.

In a regular daily announcement, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) noted, “The country reported 163 new coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in the previous 24 hours, the second-highest number in a single day.”

The country had 31.46 percent COVID-19 positive cases, the most in a single day, with 36,631 samples tested in the previous 24 hours, and 9,964 positive cases on July 5 (yesterday), the second-highest single-day total.

According to the official total, the virus has killed 15,392 individuals so far, with 164 deaths reported on July 5, the highest single-day Covid-19 case count since the epidemic reached Bangladesh.

After another 5,433 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last day, the total number of people who have recovered has risen to 8,44,515.

According to the DGHS, 87.39 percent of those who were infected from the start recovered, while 1.59 percent died.

Coronavirus illnesses and deaths have continued to climb dramatically in recent days, prompting the authorities to prolong the current lockdown until midnight on July 14. The administration had already agreed to implement a seven-day countrywide lockdown until July 7 to stop the spread of the deadly illness.

In the last 24 hours, 3,715 coronavirus cases have been identified in Dhaka city and Upazilas of Dhaka district, whereas 5,38,126 out of 9,66,406 cases have been detected in Dhaka district alone, including the capital.

According to the DGHS, 7,813 people died in Dhaka division, 2,857 in Chattogram, 1,152 in Rajshahi, 1,537 in Khulna, 454 in Barishal, 549 in Sylhet, 684 in Rangpur, and 346 in Mymensingh division out of a total of 15,392 deaths.

Bangladesh’s COVID-19 verified cases surpassed 5,000 on March 29, 2021, 6,000 on April 1, 2021, 7,000 on April 4, 2021, 8,000 on June 24, 2021, 9,000 on July 5, and 11,000 on July 6, according to the DGHS (today).
