Advisory committee recommends 14 days of ‘shutdown’ across the country

The National Technical Advisory Committee on Coronavirus has recommended a complete ‘shutdown’ of at least 14 days across the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus infections and to prevent loss of life.

This was stated in a press release signed by the chairman of the committee, Prof Mohammad Sahidullah. The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee on Wednesday night. Restrictions are currently in place across the country, which is expected to last until July 15. Besides, efforts are being made to isolate the capital Dhaka by imposing strict restrictions in seven districts around Dhaka to curb corona spread.

In this situation, the National Technical Advisory Committee on Corona said that their opinion is that the infection has been controlled in the places where the full shutdown has been done. For this, the committee has recommended a complete shutdown for 14 days across the country.

Mohammad Sahidullah, chairman of the committee, said the shutdown meant shutting down everything except emergency services.

The committee’s press release said that everything, including vehicles, offices, and courts, need to be stopped at this time except for emergency services. If this system is not strictly followed, no matter how prepared it is, the health system will become inadequate.
