Modi became most popular PM in the world during COVID period

The Narendra Modi-led government of India has been repeatedly criticized in the Corona period. However, this did not have much effect on Modi’s popularity. Such information came up in a survey.

According to a survey by Morning Consult, a US data intelligence firm, 66% of people still trust Modi. Twenty-eight per cent of people have lost confidence. The survey was conducted on 2,126 adults in India.

The survey was conducted in 13 countries around the world. Modi is at the top of that list. He has surpassed the heads of state of countries like the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Brazil, France. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi follows Modi in the ‘Global Approval Rating Tracker’. Eighty-five per cent of Italians rely on him.

Next on the list is Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Sixty-three per cent of people have relied on him. Then there is Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. 54 per cent of people trust him. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is next. Fifty-three per cent of Germans rely on him. The exact percentage depends on US President Joe Biden.

Then there is Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Forty-eight per cent of the people of that country have relied on him. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is trusted by 44% of British citizens. South Korean President Moon Jae-in is trusted by 36 per cent of the population.

Spanish President Pedro Sanchez (338 per cent), Brazilian President Joyce Bolsonaro (35 per cent), French President Emmanuel Macron (35 percent) and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga (29 percent) are next in the list.
