Facebook registered for VAT in Bangladesh

Popular social media Facebook has taken Business Identification Number (BIN) to get direct VAT-related services, including VAT payment and VAT return submission. Facebook has received three separate BIN registrations in terms of online application.

Additional Commissioner of Customs, Excise, and VAT Commissionerate Dhaka South Pramila Sarkar confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post on Sunday (June 13).

He said yesterday (Saturday), Facebook applied online to get registration from three different organizations. We have approved today after the verification and selection.

The three companies registered are Facebook Technologies Ireland Limited, Facebook Ireland Limited, and Facebook Payments International Limited.

On May 25, the popular search engine Google took BIN to get VAT-related services, including VAT payment and VAT return submission. Following this, Amazon and Netflix took VAT registration.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) allows international technology companies such as Facebook, Google, YouTube, Netflix, and Microsoft to register directly. That is why the company amended the rules to provide all the benefits of direct VAT.
