China’s Sinovac gets WHO approval

The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved the emergency use of the Synovac vaccine as China’s second covid vaccine. The BBC reported this in a report on Tuesday (June 1) night.

The World Health Organization says approving emergency use means the vaccine meets international standards in safety, effectiveness and processing.

The Sinovac vaccine is already being used in many countries around the world. This vaccine is given in two doses to people over 18 years of age. A recent study found that more than half of people who receive the Sinovac vaccine are protected from the symptomatic corona. Illness and hospitalization were not seen.

According to the BBC report, the approval of the vaccine provided an opportunity for China to use the vaccine in Kovacs, an initiative to distribute the vaccine to the world’s poorest countries.
