The FAO Director General praised Sheikh Hasina’s leadership

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Besides, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Q Dongyu has lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for successfully ensuring food security to 165 million people of the country despite various challenges.

FAO Director-General praised Bangladesh PM while he was providing an identity card to Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy as FAO’s Permanent Representative on Friday (May 26). The identity card ceremony was held virtually.

“We can learn a lot from Bangladesh because their solutions are affordable and easy to implement,” said Director General Qi Dongyu.

FAO Permanent Representative Shamim Ahsan praised the role of the Food and Agriculture Organization in ensuring food and nutrition in Bangladesh for more than 40 years, as well as food security, agro-environment, increasing productivity and income of small and marginal farmers and tackling the challenges of the coronavirus epidemic.

He also called upon the organization to continue its support to the agriculture sector in Bangladesh in the future as in the past.
