Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said the government has decided to subsidize hotel cost for the Saudi Arabia-bound expatriate workers, who are required to stay in quarantine for seven days after landing in the Gulf country.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed us (the foreign ministry) to take initiatives for arranging hotel facilities for them (expatriate workers),” he told reporters today at the ministry office.
The foreign minister said Bangladeshi expatriates intending to travel to Saudi Arabia are failing to arrange hotel accommodation there. Also the hotels are too expensive, he added.
“I already asked our ambassador in Saudi Arabia to make a list of the expatriate workers going there and then arrange hotel for their quarantine,” Momen added.
Saudi-bound Bangladeshi workers have been facing problems with the country’s authorities requiring the migrants to arrange hotel booking.
The foreign minister also said that they will hold an inter-ministerial meeting tomorrow to arrange full-dose vaccination for expatriate workers under a special arrangement so that they can avoid hotel quarantine after landing in Saudi Arabia.
As per the Saudi Arabian regulations anyone can go for home quarantine if he or she got full dose vaccination with negative certificate of COVID-19 PSR test.
