The United States on Friday approved the Mordana Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use.
This is the second vaccine approved in the United States. Earlier, the Pfizer-Bioenteker ticker was approved. The people of the country have already started getting the Pfizer vaccine.
The United States is the most defeated country in the world. With this approval, 8 million doses of vaccine have been created in the country.
Stephen Han, head of the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), said the FDA had taken another important step in the fight against the global epidemic with the availability of two vaccines to prevent covid-19. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump tweeted congratulations on the approval.
Following the approval, millions of doses of the vaccine will begin to be delivered this weekend from cold storage in Memphis and Louisville to different parts of the country.
The company has produced 20 million doses of the vaccine this month. The vaccine was developed jointly with the National Institutes of Health in the United States. The Massachusetts-based biotech company was paid USD 250 million to make the vaccine.
Coronavirus has killed more than 310,000 people in the United States so far. Besides, about one lakh 15 thousand people infected with corona are hospitalized.
