Messi won the ‘Champion for Peace’ award

Just a day earlier, Polish star Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich had won the FIFA Player of the Year award. But Lionel Messi, one of the best players in the world, continues to enrich his personal record. The Argentine superstar has won the 2020 ‘Champion for Peace Award’.

The Barcelona captain was presented with the award on Friday for his involvement in off-field charity work.

Messi is constantly contributing to the welfare of humanity in different parts of the world. During the Corona period, Barcelona and his country Argentina stood by the helpless people. Millions of euros have been spent on medical supplies and other items. He has also provided educational materials for disadvantaged children in Syria and Africa through his Leo Messi Foundation. An organization called ‘Peace and Sport’ recognized those humanitarian activities.

Posting a picture of the award on Instagram, Messi wrote, “I am honored to receive the 2020 Champion for Peace Award for my social work. Thanks to Peace and Sport for this great recognition. ‘
