After the minister affected with COVID-19, Malaysian Prime Minister Muhiddin Yassin said he would be in quarantine for 14 days.
In a statement on Monday, Yassin confirmed the news of Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Mohammed al-Bakri for being affected by a coronavirus, saying that the test showed a positive cochineal virus in Bakri.
This was followed by a 14-day quarantine order at home for those who were in close contact with Bakri at a meeting of the Malaysian National Security Council on Saturday.
However, Prime Minister Yassin said there would be no disruption to government work. “I will continue to work from home and hold meetings via video conference if necessary,” he said.
Malaysia’s health ministry said on Monday that 432 new coronavirus patients had been identified in the country. This is a new record in the number of patients identified in a single day since the onset of the epidemic.
Malaysian authorities say all coronavirus restrictions could be re-imposed if the high-risk trend continues. Politicians in Malaysia are outraged by the rise of the coronavirus.
