Haftar supports ceasefire in Libya

Khalifa Haftar has supported a ceasefire in Libya that began on Monday. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced the ceasefire at a news conference after a series of military victories by forces loyal to the UN-recognized government in Libya and talks in Cairo.

He said the initiative called for respect for the ceasefire and all international efforts, which began on Monday, June 8.

Haftar and his ally in the Eastern Parliament, Speaker Aguila Saleh, were at Sisi’s side at the time. He unveiled the Cairo Declaration.

CC said the announcement called for the withdrawal of foreign mercenaries from all parts of Libya, the disbandment of militias, and the handover of their weapons.
