Amazon expands aircraft fleet as part of Amazon’s dedicated air cargo network

Amazon resumes adapting to meet the changing demands of consumers by investing in ways to provide fast, free delivery. Amazon announced the charter of the new 12 Boeing 767-300 transformed cargo aircraft from Air Transport Services Group (ATSG).

These newly chartered aircraft will join Amazon’s existing fleet of 70 aircraft to bring its total air network to over 80 aircraft. Among 12, one of the new aircraft already joined Amazon’s air cargo operations in May 2020, remaining 11 aircraft to be delivered within 2021.

Amazon Air’s fleet extension happens at a time when people in communities across the world continue to adjust to this unprecedented time, with many relying on having the items they need to be delivered directly to their doorstep. Amazon Air has performed a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic by transporting necessary Personal Protective Equipment supplies for Amazon associates, frontline health workers, and relief organizations across the US and other countries. Now, with extended cargo range to come, Amazon will resume meeting evolving demand and a growing customer base.

“During a time when so many of our customers rely on us to get what they need without leaving their homes, expanding our dedicated air network ensures we have the capacity to deliver what our customers want: great selection, low prices, and fast shipping speeds,” stated Sarah Rhoads, Vice President of Amazon Global Air.

Amazon continues to expand on-the-ground operations in addition to aircraft. Amazon will open new Regional Air Hubs in deferent places.
