Corona Tracer BD apps launched as trial in Bangladesh

ICT Division Launches Bangladesh-Made Contact Tracing App in a test trail to find out the risk of the deadly novel coronavirus. State Minister for Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak has requested everyone to download and use the Corona Tracer BD app.

He made the call during the inauguration of ‘Corona Tracer BD’ via video conference on Thursday afternoon.

Speaking as the chief guest, Palak stated, “Using the Corona Tracer BD app on a smartphone to protect themself and their family can greatly reduce the risk of being affected. While using the app on the smartphone, it will also be possible to know who is affected by corona or in touch with the corona victims. At this time, we want to bring technological solutions.”

Maliha Qadir, founder and managing director of Sahaj.com, gave a presentation on the use of the app at the opening ceremony. She said, If the smartphone has Bluetooth and GPS on, it will analyze the user’s various information, the app will tell if he was near someone who was infected with Corona.

All information will be in a database. Users will also get various suggestions. Now the app is only available in the Android Play Store. Maliha Qadir said that it will come to the iOS platform very soon.
