Geoffrey Boycott, the legendary England player and former captain, said goodbye to the commentary, thinking of the coronavirus’ panic and physical condition. He has been with the BBC’s Test match specialist commentary team for the last 14 years.
Boycott confirmed the comment on his account on social media Twitter. He wrote, “I would like to thank BBC tms and BBC Sport for a wonderful 14 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and just love cricket with a passion. I also wish to thank all those that have said how much they have enjoyed my commentary and for those that haven’t- too bad.”

Boycott’s deal with the BBC ended last summer. However, in the current situation, it has become easier for Boycott to decide to leave the commentary because of Corona. he added ” I would loved to continue but need to be realistic & honest with myself. COVID -19 has made the decision for both of us.”
Boycott recently had to undergo a bypass operation. At the same time, he did not want to take any more risk. That’s why the 79-year-old boycott has not been named in the BBC’s commentary list for the upcoming England-West Indies Test series.

England are set to play a three-match Test series against the West Indies at home next month. Cricket fans will not be able to hear the commentary of the boycott from that series.
