The Indian cricket team is keen to tour South Africa in August to play a three-match T20 series if the coronavirus situation returns to normal.
The chief executive of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the chief executive of Cricket South Africa have decided to hold an upcoming tour. But everything depends on the condition of the coronavirus. The cricket boards of the two countries have no objection to playing the series.
BCCI chief executive Rahul Johri said, “I hope it will be possible to start cricket at the end of the monsoon season if the dire situation of coronavirus ends soon. Everyone has the right to safety. We will follow the guidelines given by the Government of India. We are very much interested in the series against South Africa next August.”
“We have received a positive response from the BCCI regarding the series,” said South Africa chief executive Jack Fall. “India are looking to defend their contract and have agreed to play a three-match T20 series. But if for some reason this series is also postponed, then neither we nor India will have anything to do. We will think about organizing the series again in the future”, He added.
“Cricket South Africa has already received permission from the government to host the series,” he said. If necessary, the game will be played in a stadium without spectators. That series is important for India and us. It is very important to return to cricket now. ‘
