Bangladesh suspends all domestic flights from tonight

The government has decided to suspend all domestic commercial flights from midnight tonight till further notice as part of the government’s desperate attempt to confine people at their own places containing an outbreak of COVID-19.

“All domestic flight operations will be suspended from today’s midnight till further notice,” Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mohibul Haque told BSS today.

He further mentioned that there is yet to take any decision regarding the total airport closer while few international flights are still operating under this prevailing situation.

Earlier, Bangladesh had imposed a ban on entry of flights from 10 countries– Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore and India– to March 31 at midnight due to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

An embargo on entry was also imposed of all inbound travelers from Europe except the United Kingdom (UK), till March 31.

The government has also declared suspension of all train and water transport services from this evening.
