North Korea comments ‘hostile and unnecessary’ : US envoy

The top US representative in talks with North Korea on Monday slammed Pyongyang’s demands as “so hostile and negative and so unnecessary”.

The North has set an end-of-year deadline for Washington to offer it fresh concessions in their deadlocked nuclear talks, but Stephen Biegun told reporters in Seoul: “The US does not have a deadline, we have a goal.”

He added that a major provocation by the North in the coming days would be “unhelpful”.
