Southtech signs up with Ministry of Agriculture to build reporting software system

On 22nd of May, 2019, the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Ministry of Agriculture issued a tender for Development and Maintenance of Computerized/Web-based Accounting and Reporting Software System.

Under the project, National Agricultural Technology Program Phase II (NATP-2), the development objective of the program is to increase the agricultural productivity of smallholder farmers and improve their access to the market in selected districts.

After the tender was released, many software companies started submitting their proposals to the PMU. Among all the companies, with the highest technical and financial scores, Southtech won the project. This project will be fully funded by The World Bank.

The official signing ceremony for the project was held on 04th November 2019. At the signing ceremony, Mr. Md. Motiur Rahman- Project Director (Additional Secretary) of NATP-2 and Mr. Syed Mamnun Quader-MD and CEO of Southtech were present.

After years and years of manual reporting, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to upgrade to a web-based system to better manage their data entry. The purpose of the software is to enter day to day transactions of the Project Management Unit.

Additionally, the system must obtain monthly receipts and payment accounts, statements of expenditure, withdrawal application, interim unaudited financial report, cash forecast statement, a quarterly report on fund sanction, audit observations reporting, etc.

The National Agriculture Technology program (NATP) is a three-phase program that is designed to support the strategy of the Government of Bangladesh to improve national agricultural productivity, market linkage, and farm income. This program particularly focuses on small, marginal and female farmers.

NATP Phase II supports research, extension and value chain programs/activities at the field level.

Southtech has been delegated 6 months for software development to make the system fully operational, and 3 years for maintenance up to the end of the project period.
