Grameenphone aims for stronger gender balance in workplace

Grameenphone Ltd. aims to build gender balance in the workplace and strongly believes that balance can bring synergy and better results, both professionally and personally. This position was reiterated at a panel discussion celebrating International Women’s Day at GPHouse in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

The panel discussion focused on “#BalanceforBetter” – this year’s theme for International Women’s Day. Yasir Azman, DCEO & CMO, Grameenphone; Tropa Majumdar, Media activist; Mishu Chowdhury, a former cricketer of the Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket Team, and Sayed Talat Kamal, Director, Communications, Grameenphone participated in the discussion as distinguished panelists. The panelists highlighted how organizations could build better gender balance and particularly emphasized on how families play a critical part in going beyond stereotypes, leading to greater development. The panel discussion was moderated by Khairul Basher, Head of Internal Communications, Grameenphone.

Gender Balance

Michael Foley, CEO of Grameenphone, presented a keynote speech, stressing on the shared responsibilities of both genders. Pointing out to the gender balance in Telenor Business Units, he noted that, “gender balance must be driven from the top, and both my management team and I are committed to making this happen in Grameenphone as well.”

Michael Foley also pledged on behalf of Grameenphone and the management “to be an advocate for change and accelerate gender equality for my organization and for Bangladesh”
