The British Council has teamed up with Bangladesh Bank and set a satellite library named ‘British Council Library Corner’ at the Bangladesh Bank’s own library space. From now on, Employees of Bangladesh Bank and their family members will be able to enjoy these books at their convenience.
In the signing ceremony, Md. Mahbubar Rahman Khan, General Manager, Bangladesh Bank Library and Sebastian Pearce, Director, Examination, British Council were present and represented their respective organisations.
The library houses the latest award-winning collections of UK’s best titles. In order to spread these services and to cater larger number of readers, the British Council Library and Cultural Centre has brought the concept of satellite libraries. The Bangladesh Bank Library corner consists of books on language, fiction, literature and a wonderful collection for the young readers.
Fazle Kabir, Governor, Bangladesh Bank officially opened the corner for the readers with his speech thereafter. He said, “The British Council expanded its friendship to Bangladesh Bank with this. There are books which you only get to see at the British Council Library and they introduce you to diverse knowledge. It’s really amazing.”
Sebastian Pearce, Director, Examination, British Council stated, “We are really happy to be a part of the Bangladesh Bank family. And we believe, this is just one of the many journeys we started with you. The British Council looks forward from here and wishes you all to dive into the world of books.”
Throughout the speeches everyone emphasized on the role that a library plays in a society’s development. Then the Governor was handed over an honorary membership from the British Council Library and Cultural Centre. The ceremony ended with a group photo session.
