Facebook crashed and people’s reaction

Facebook went down across the world this afternoon – and people were not happy about it. The problem appears to have affected users across the UK, Europe, the US and Asia, according to Down Detector. Visitors to the Facebook site were met with, well, nothing apart from blank pages.

Names and pictures all vanished from the site. The issue started at around 5pm British time, however appears to have since rectified itself. However at the time of the crash, people were not happy at all. In fact, #FacebookDown immediately started trending on Twitter – with more than 4,000 people tweeting about it.

One person said: ‘This is not a drill. Facebook is DOWN!’ Another added: ‘When you go on Twitter to see if Facebook is down for anyone else.’ Oxford Police Department: ‘Yes, it appears Facebook is down. Please do not call to tell us. We don’t know how to fix it.’ Metro.co.uk has contacted Facebook for further information.
