10 innovative student projects reimagine Bangladesh’s future

This year in month of May The World Bank and BetterStories organised “Make A-Thon Bangladesh” 2016., 100 innovative graduate students from different universities across Bangladesh participated in the innovation incubator contest ‘Make-A-Thon’ 2016 to introduce innovative technology for creating a better place.

In partnership with the ICT Division of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, 18 esteemed partners were involved to organized “Make A-Thon Bangladesh”

Within only 3 days, this Bangladeshi young originators developed 32 prototypes projects to help improve healthcare, agriculture, sustainable energy, and much more.

Make-A-Thon 2016, has brought 100 top talents from diverse fields to solve sevarel problems in Bangladesh. In teams and as individuals, they have built 32 prototypes on paper and 3D model.

Out from 400 applications, 100 participants and beating all 32 prototypes, the champion of Make-A-Thon 2016 is QC Pro, a prototype that ensures quality of food and agricultural product. The 2nd position achievers made such thrilling product that the Honorable State Minister placed an order of 100 unites on-site. It’s a drone toy from the Happiness for All project team, who have built an economically feasible and affordable toy drone. 3rd position we have a life saving product, FLOBUDDY, a prevention tool for fatalities caused from drowning.

Other top projects were Smart Card based Public Services, a management system for public transport; UAV For Humanity, an aerial solution run on drone technology; W-Bot, a sanitation system for water bodies; Smart Gas Burner, a system that reduces gas usage; Happiness for All, an economically feasible and affordable toy drone; Drivers, Go Safe, a tool that assists drivers and Health Assistant and Harassment Prevention, a wearable medical assistant.

Other notable projects were ROBO-NURSE, a robot that can provide basic healthcare services; and TRAFFIC AI, a system that helps its users tackle traffic and find low-congested routes to their destination.
